Dr. Tansey loves being a veterinary oncologist at MarQueen Veterinary Specialty Group, because she gets to meet amazing families and help improve the quality of life for their dogs and/or cats. Several of her own pets have had cancer which allows her to have a better understanding of the challenges many families face with the diagnosis and treatment options during such a traumatic time. Her approach is more of an east-meets-west medicine including traditional treatments combined with supplements, herbs and acupuncture. She is also one of the few oncologists in the country who perform Electrochemotherapy.
Dr.Tansey is originally from the Chicago area. After a career in marketing and advertising, she decided that her calling was to be a veterinarian. The bond that exists between a person and/or family and their dog and/or cat is incredible and honorable. Ultimately, it is quality of life which is the driving force of any medical decision.
When she is not busy taking care of her patients she finds time for hiking, trips to breweries, and dog parks with her crazy German Shepherd named Dylan (after Bob Dylan) and golden retriever named Sammy (came with the name). The cats, Jake (after Jake Arrietta – Go Cubs!) and Finnegan enjoy the quiet time when the dogs are away from the house. Occasionally the sulcata tortoise, Cooper, will find his way in the house where he spends time with the red-eared slider, Louie.
